Home to the largest free-flight aviary on Earth, Birds of Eden spans more than 2 hectares of indigenous forest, creating a breathtaking natural haven for rescued and rehabilitated birds.
You can visit any day of the year—no booking required. The sanctuary is open from 8am to 5pm, with last entry at 5pm and the gates closing at 6pm. Explore at your own pace on a self-guided tour, and pick up a full-colour identification booklet at reception for just R20.
If you’d prefer a deeper dive, guided tours can be arranged at no extra charge, but please note that guided tours for Birds of Eden must be pre-booked.
Inside the aviary, you’ll encounter thousands of birds—from vibrant parrots and elegant turacos to flamingos, hornbills, cranes, ibis, and many more. A spectacular 1.2 km elevated boardwalk winds through forest, across a waterfall, and along the edge of a dramatic kloof, offering unforgettable viewing angles.
